Men May deny Christ......

He who would confess Christ must have Christ abiding in him.
He cannot communicate that which he has not received.
The disciples might speak fluently on doctrines, they might repeat the words of Christ Himself; but unless they possessed Christlike meekness and love, they were not confessing Him.
A spirit contrary to the spirit of Christ would deny Him, whatever the profession.
Men may deny Christ by evilspeaking, by foolish talking, by words that are untruthful or unkind.
They may deny Him by shunning life's burdens, by the pursuit of sinful pleasure.
They may deny Him by conforming to the world, by uncourteous behavior, by the love of their own opinions, by justifying self, by cherishing doubt, borrowing trouble, and dwelling in darkness.
In all these ways they declare that Christ is not in them. And "whosoever shall deny Me before men," He says, "him will I also deny before My Father which is in heaven." DA 357.2

The Old Paths

I liked the old paths, when Moms were at home.
Dads were at work. Brothers went into the army.
And sisters got married BEFORE having children!
Crime did not pay; Hard work did; And people knew the difference.
Moms could cook; Dads would work;
Children would behave.. Husbands were loving;
Wives were supportive; And children were polite.
Women wore the ornaments of a meek spirit;
And Men wore the pants. Women looked like ladies;
Men looked like gentlemen; And children looked decent.
People loved the truth, And hated a lie;
They came to church to get IN, Not to get OUT!
Hymns sounded Godly; Sermons sounded helpful;
Rejoicing sounded normal; And crying sounded sincere.
Cursing was wicked; Drinking was evil; and divorce was unthinkable.
The flag was honored; America was beautiful; And God was welcome!
We read the Bible in public; Prayed in school;
And preached from house to house
To be called an American was worth dying for;
To be called a Christian was worth living for;
To be called a traitor was a shame!
Sex was a personal word.
Homosexual was an unheard of word, And abortion was an illegal word.
Preachers preached because they had a message;
And Christians rejoiced because they had the VICTORY!
Preachers preached from the Bible; Singers sang from the heart;
And sinners turned to the Lord to be SAVED!
A new birth meant a new life; Salvation meant a changed life;
Following Christ led to eternal life.
Being a preacher meant you proclaimed the word of God;
Being a deacon meant you would serve the Lord;
Being a Christian meant you would live for Jesus;
And being a sinner meant someone was praying for you!
Laws were based on the Bible; Homes read the Bible;
And churches taught the Bible.
Preachers were more interested in new converts,
Than new clothes and new cars.
God was worshiped; Christ was exalted;
and the Holy Spirit was respected.
Church was where you found Christians on the Sabbath day,
rather than in the garden, on the creek bank, on the golf course,
or being entertained somewhere else.
I still like the old paths the best!

"The Old Paths" was written by a retired minister who lives in Tennessee
Rick Blythe edited this poem slightly to reflect a more accurate and biblical view. The Changes are in Italics.

Fortify Your Mind

None but those who have fortified the mind with the truths of the Bible will stand through the last great conflict.--GC 593, 594

The time will come when many will be deprived of the written Word. But if this Word is printed in the memory, no one can take it from us.--20MR 64 (1906)

A Poem - Life Is a Gift by Anonymous

Life Is A Gift

Today before you think of saying an unkind word - Think of someone who can't speak.

Before you complain about the taste of your food - Think of someone who has nothing to eat.

Before you complain about your husband or wife - Think of someone who's crying out to God for a companion.

Today before you complain about life - Think of someone who went too early to the grave.

Before you complain about your children - Think of someone who desires children but they're barren.

Before you argue about your dirty house, someone didn't clean or sweep - Think of the people who are living in the streets.

Before whining about the distance you drive - Think of someone who walks the same distance with their feet.

And when you are tired and complain about your job - Think of the unemployed, the disabled and those who wished they had your job.

But before you think of pointing the finger or condemning another - Remember that not one of us are without sin and we all answer to one maker.

And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down - Put a smile on your face and thank God you're alive and still around.

Bible Text & Quotes shared by Pastor J.C. Perozo

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Ti 1:7

God does not force the will of His creatures. He cannot accept an homage that is not willingly and intelligently given. A mere forced submission would prevent all real development of mind or character; it would make man a mere automaton. Such is not the purpose of the Creator. He desires that man, the crowning work of His creative power, shall reach the highest possible development. He sets before us the height of blessing to which He desires to bring us through His grace. He invites us to give ourselves to Him, that He may work His will in us. It remains for us to choose whether we will be set free from the bondage of sin, to share the glorious liberty of the sons of God. {SC 43.4}
True temperance teaches us to dispense entirely with everything hurtful and to use judiciously that which is healthful. {PP 562.1}
If man abuses his entrusted treasures, God can scatter faster than man can gather. Man may have brilliant intellect; he may be rich in the possession of natural endowments. But these are all given him by God, his Maker. God can remove the gift of reason, and in a moment man will become as Nebuchadnezzar, degraded to the level of the beasts of the field. This God does because man acts as though his wisdom and power had been gotten independently of Him. {1SM 297.3}
God bestows His gifts upon us that we may minister to others, and thus become like Him. Those who receive His gifts that they may impart to others, become like Christ. It is in helping and uplifting others that we become ennobled and purified. This is the work that causes glory to flow back to God. We must become intelligent upon these points. Our souls must be purified from all selfishness; for God desires to use His people as representatives of the heavenly kingdom. {6T 190.3}

Basic Training #2 Memory Verse

Deuteronomy 17:19 and Psalm 143:8 along with John 15:5.
Continue to review every day Jeremiah 31:3; John 17:3; Philippians 4:13.
If you read Deuterronomy 17:14 - 20, you will find that 'he' in verse 19 is king. Even though Israelites did not have the king when Moses told them God knew that they will be asking one.
